Decay, grunge, rust, old
it's what water heaters are made of.

They aren't very friendly.

Reference photo from ~pbstock release 37-2

Diptych, Acrylic - 2 feet by 3 feet each.
Also important to note this was the first time I built my own stretcher, and stretched my own canvas.

:D that makes me happy in this late night.
You won't believe it ...

But I have been stretching a new canvas and was about to put acrylic gesso on it - I shake the bottle it's in, and APARNETLY I forgot to put the top on. So SPLASH! Gesso EVERYWHERE. On my pants that my girlfriend bought me (the only pants I own that cost a lot) on my new shoes (which were falling apart any way, but they're NEW) all over the floor, and this is a new building - I'm the first occupent. Thank god it's tile and somewhat easy to clean up. and all over a few other times. I have spent an hour cleaning it up and just got to apply the first layer of gesso.

So tired..
(since I'm still living in the dorms, picture you spilling this through out your entire house / apartment)
ohh, sorry to hear....wash the pants quickly ;)
these things happen....although it's been a while since something like that happened to me...but you know, every second I'm getting closer
and it's late....must be around midnight there....

was around 1 or 2 I think...I honestly can't remember.
I'm a lot less bothered by it now that I've slept. The only thing I really didn't want it to get on was one of my bags, which it managed to grab the back, but no one sees that anyway :D

Besides that, I do remember when she bought the pants I said "you know, I don't know why you spend so much money on paints that are just going to get ruined by paint." Took me a few months though :p
yes, even later than midnight :)
well, you warned her at least

this ain't a girlscout camp! :evillaugh:
I'm loving the contrast levels and tones on the left hand side. It looks older and more mechanical to me. The negative space works extremely well. How are you tackling those wires?

with American football pads!

but no, on the opaque one I just used white and on some parts, mixed in a little black.
The transparent one it was a little trickier, since I couldn't use white at all. I had box out where the wires were going to go at first, and then I had to slowly draw in every shade. I'm not sure which one I like more..but the transparent one took a lot longer. It was also a lot more frustrating; If I messed up the wires, I couldn't go back in and fix them really..
What about masking fluid? I don't know how viable it would be to use with mediums other than watercolour though. Wires are tricksy.
